Relax and take a canoe ride down the beautiful Manistee River
at Shel-Haven Canoe Rental, within walking distance from us. Start upstream and float back to us - no waiting for a pickup. It is one
of the most relaxing and enjoyable activities, whether you are a novice or an experienced canoeist.
Take a stroll down memory lane at the Crawford County Historical Museum, right in the middle
of downtown Grayling.
You can always take a little time to shop in our quaint downtown! There're a
variety of neat shops and restaurants to visit.
We have an exceptional Coca Cola memorabilia collection (the largest
in northern Michigan with over 9,000 pieces) at Dawson-Stevens Diner. This is a delightful 50's diner that
serves really good home cooking.
Don't miss the Fred Bear archery collection on display at Bear's Den restaurant,
serving the best pizza in town, along with subs, pastas and a great pizza/salad bar. They also serve beer and wine.
Have a latte' or one of their other great drinks in the little cafe inside Flowers
by Josie/Thanks a Latte' .
Of course, for the angler, there're a number of lakes within
just a few miles and if you're into trout fishing, the great AuSable and Manistee Rivers are right here. They offer
some of the best fishing you can find anywhere.
During the last week in July you can enjoy the AuSable River Festival here
in Grayling. It's a week-long event jam-packed with fun things to see and do.
There's a car show, an arts & crafts show, a 100-mile bicycle tour
to participate in, a quilt show, a book sale, music, food and more fun! The event comes to a finish with the start of
the AuSable River Canoe Marathon the last Saturday of July.
Bring your bikes and enjoy the many bike trails we have in Crawford County.

You can visit Hartwick Pines State Park,the largest state park in the lower
peninsula. It is only a fifteen-minute drive from our location.
View the historic pines (some over 150 feet tall)
and check out the interpretive center. See how the loggers lived in our area in earlier days. There're places
to picnic and play, trails for walking and regularly-scheduled events going on.
Catch your own dinner at the Grayling Fish Hatchery! We can even cook it for you and serve it
out on the deck if prior arrangements are made!!
During the winter you can down-hill or cross-country ski, snow shoe, or tube
at Hanson Hills Recreational Park. They offer lessons, snow shoe hikes and other special programs. Check their
calendar of events.
Traverse City is only about 45 minutes away from us where there're endless
things to keep you busy. Whether it's the shopping malls or theaters, fine dining places or special
events, it's all there if you're looking for more.
For the snowmobilers, there're miles and miles of groomed trails in Crawford County
for you to enjoy. Bring your sleds and have a great time right from our front door. We can also provide indoor
parking for your sleds and pack you a snack if you like.
